Senior Cost Accountant

Position Overview
A well-established manufacturing company in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join its on-site finance team. This role will be responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions, supporting manufacturing operations, and providing detailed financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze standard and actual manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
- Prepare and review cost of goods sold (COGS) and manufacturing variance analysis
- Support month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Partner with operations and production teams to understand cost drivers and improve margins
- Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory adjustments
- Analyze cost trends and recommend improvements to pricing and production efficiency
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing costs
- Ensure accurate product costing and bill of materials (BOM) setup
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Continuously improve cost accounting processes and internal controls
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment (required)
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Experience working closely with manufacturing and operations teams
- Advanced Excel skills
- ERP or manufacturing accounting system experience
- Ability and willingness to work fully on-site in Baltimore
