Senior Cost Accountant

Location: Baltimore, MD (Fully On-Site)

Compensation: $100,000-$115,000

Position Overview

A well-established manufacturing company in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join its on-site finance team. This role will be responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions, supporting manufacturing operations, and providing detailed financial analysis to drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard and actual manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
• Prepare and review cost of goods sold (COGS) and manufacturing variance analysis
• Support month-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Partner with operations and production teams to understand cost drivers and improve margins
• Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory adjustments
• Analyze cost trends and recommend improvements to pricing and production efficiency
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing costs
• Ensure accurate product costing and bill of materials (BOM) setup
• Assist with audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
• Continuously improve cost accounting processes and internal controls

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment (required)
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
• Experience working closely with manufacturing and operations teams
• Advanced Excel skills
• ERP or manufacturing accounting system experience
• Ability and willingness to work fully on-site in Baltimore
